Shepherd Wellness Community
How Can You Help SWC?
There are numerous ways that you can support the work of the Shepherd
Wellness Community.
1. Financial contributions can be sent to SWC.
SWC is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit. All donations are fully tax-deductible.

2. Your United Way Choice Dollars
When filling out your United Way pledge form, please specify Contributor
Choice Code 3186 for a portion or all of your United Way contribution
to go to Shepherd Wellness Community.
3186, that’s us, Shepherd Wellness Community, the only AIDS
Community Center in Western Pennsylvania.
As a nonprofit organization providing supportive services and life-enhancing
activities for people with HIV/AIDS and their families and friends,
we depend on your tax-deductible donations to help defray our expenses.
United Way Contributor Choice dollars can help us reach that goal.
Remember Shepherd Wellness Community when making your Contributor’s
Choice through the United Way.
3. Support SWC through the Combined Federal Campaign
SWC participates in the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), a pledge
program for employees of the federal government. Pledges made by Federal
civilian, postal and military donors during the Fall campaign season
will support our programs.
Please enter CFC code #21448 on your pledge card.
4. Donate
your Used Automobile to SWC for tax write-off
Shepherd Wellness Community has partnered with Goodwill Industries
of Pittsburgh to enable donations of used autos to benefit the nonprofit
work of SWC. Goodwill handles all the details, even towing your car
to their auction house, and SWC receives 75% of the proceeds from the
auction sale. You get a tax-deductible donation receipt for the amount
the vehicle sells for at auction.
Call SWC at 412-683-4477 to donate your automobile. We then contact
Goodwill and they take over from there. They call you and tell you how
to prepare your title, send a tow truck to get your car, take care of
all the paperwork, sell your car at their auction house, and send you
a tax deductible receipt for the amount the vehicle sells for at auction.
SWC receives 75% of the proceeds which will be used for our life-enhancing
programs.
When you donate your old car to SWC it makes a genuine difference in
the lives of our members living with HIV/AIDS.
5. Volunteer your time.
We are always delighted to welcome volunteers
to Shepherd Wellness Community. As our programs and services continue
to grow,
we need your
help more than ever. We are appreciative and grateful for your dedicated
efforts. If you want to become involved with SWC but are not sure how,
here are some
suggestions.
Many volunteers help at:
- our first and third Friday dinners at First United Methodist
Church in Shadyside. You can help with setup and preparation the
night before; you can serve dinners and clean up that Friday. Call
the SWC Office for details at 412.683.4477
- mailing parties for programs and fund raisers (like our Annual
Report mailing or our "Snowflake" card mailing in Dec.)
- special events (like our fall and spring benefits for Shepherd Wellness
Community programs and services)
- the Annual SWC Flea Market
- OUTrageous Bingo
- our second and fourth Friday dinners at our SWC Center in Bloomfield
or
- serving on an SWC work team or committee
Since there's no charge for SWC services, our volunteers are crucial.
Remember, you are the reason Shepherd Wellness Community works. We
are grateful for the time you volunteer.
6. SWC Annual Flea Market
SWC holds our Annual flea market in the auditorium
at our Center on Sciota Street in Bloomfield during Little Italy Days,
usually in late Sept.
Bring us your collectibles and salable household items. We aren’t
selling books or clothing but we will accept CDs, VHS tapes, DVDs, silverware,
china, rugs and household items.Your donation is tax deductible and
all proceeds will benefit SWC rograms.
Drop off donated items at SWC, 4800 Sciota St., Bloomfield. Call us
at 412-683-4477 before dropping off items or to volunteer to help at
the Flea Market.

from Shepherd Wellness, you can help us get funding by filling
out the Member Information Form (137

the funding we need to keep providing services. All information is
